Fanfare for the Piney Woods for Horn Octet by Randall E. Faust (2026)

The Fanfare for the Piney Woods was composed for Dr. Andrea Denis, Horn Professor at Stephen F. Austin State University and her fine Horn Studio on the occasion of the Mid-South Horn Workshop, March 12-14, 2026. Stephen F. Austin State University is located in Nacogdoches, Texas-the heart of the lush Piney Woods Region of the State. Accordingly, this Fanfare is inspired by motives from Franz Schubert’s Nachtgesang im Walde (Night Songs in the Forest).
