This Horn Call for Two Alphornists has been composed for two dear friends from St. Louis, Missouri, Thomas und Tricia Jöstlein, for a performance at the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis. The work is conceived as one to be performed (ideally) in such a spacious venue on Alphorns. Throughout this work the two Hornists call back and forth with imitative and contrapuntal motives. So, an antiphonal staging of the work is encouraged - with as much space between the Hornists as is comfortable and practical. Learn More -

Sights and Sounds of the Symposium was composed for Robert Palmer and Vanessa Montelongo on the occasion of the 52nd International Horn Symposium. The first movement, The Bell Tower at Sunrise, is an ever-developing set of variations over an ever-developing repeated thematic motive. A Rondo for the Morning Run, the second movement, is based on the Rondo from the Quartet for Four Horns by Randall Faust and uses the pitch pattern: sol-do-re-sol.
Grade 4-6
