$15.00Based on Aaron Brask's creative musicianship and humor as displayed throughout his recording: Music for the Holiday Season, this collection of classic carols can be performed in, at least, two possible formats: 1. as a Horn Quartet, or 2.with Horn Ensembles of 5-6 players or Horn Choirs. A Horn Quartet can perform parts 1 through 4. Larger ensembles may also add the optional descant parts for Joy to the World and O Come All Ye Faithful. Throughout this edition, we have endeavored to capture the spirit and the nuances of Aaron’s recording. His unique style and phrasing is worthy of discussion by teachers and students, and his performance of the fourth parts is a real model of fine low register performance. This collection: Solo Studies for the Healthy Hornist contains ten solos of varying styles. Specifically written for the younger student in mind, the studies in this book will be interesting and challenging to more advanced players as well. When I retired from Western Illinois University in 2018, the focus of my teaching changed. No longer was I working with graduate students-or even undergraduate students who were doing more advanced projects on Wagner Tuba or the Natural Horn; many of my students, then, were in the younger years of high school or junior high school. So, even though I was older, I was spending more time with younger students. So, as I was spending more time teaching these younger students, I became more attuned to their activities in band, dance, and various athletic pursuits. As a result, let me give special thanks to these students who provided inspiration and test runs of these solo studies: Noah, Ernesto, Jack, Elena, Emily, Anabelle, Lorelei, Brooks, and Carter. $19.95Vitaly Buyanovsky's Espana is one of the most frequently performed works for unaccompanied horn, a brilliant display of exuberance and lyricism inspired by Spanish Folk tradition. In this arrangement, I attempted to reinforce some of these qualities by creating an accompaniment for guitar and double bass, in what may be the first instance of such instrumentation. A wonderful collection of fifteen Holiday Songs arranged for two horns by Randall E. Faust. Playing Horn Duets has provided some of the most enjoyable moments for me in Horn lessons-both as a student and as a teacher. A couple of years ago, during the Covid-pandemic lockdown, I recorded several of the following duets as part of the project for the Knox-Galesburg Symphony. The recordings of the duets were used as part of a special KGS project that provided Holiday music in support of front-line medical workers.
